This photo seems simple, a person trekking in the mountains, but for us it speaks volumes about the simplicity and joy of trekking in Nepal. When people picture or think or speak about Nepal it is most often in the context of either climbing some far flung high elevation peak, or the latest tragedy on Everest. But there is a beautiful simplicity in trekking here. It is understated. It is a slow, walking, breathing meditation. Day in and day out you wake, walk in the mountains, rest, sleep, and repeat. All the while surrounded by the beauty, power, and mystery of the world’s most glorious and ancient mountains. The warm steam from a much needed cup of tea to the laughter of new friends, to the synchronized rhythm of your breathing in tune with the breath of the Earth. This will always be a special time for us when we visit Nepal and go back to our roots of walking in the land.
